Major league catcher "Chief" Zimmer was one of the early premier defensive catchers. He led his league three times in double plays and fielding percent, and led twice in assists. Twice he was in the top 10 in getting hit by pitches, and is still 90th on the career list. He showed great durability by being the oldest player in his league for his last four years.
