Thomas James Keenan, son of John Keenan and Elizabeth Gamble Keenan, both of Portglenone, County Derry, Ireland, was born March 19, 1884 in Wheeling, West Virginia at 2811 Chapline Street. He married Mabel Bell Barr in Steubenville, Ohio on May 15, 1906 and had Merrill Leslie Keenan, first son ,exactly one year later. Second son Kenneth Hannan Keenan, born September 16, 1915 in Steubenville, Ohio. He divorced in 1915 and married Zetti Neibling, having sons Howard, Thomas Jr, Stewert, and a daughter Mildred. He died from being burnt in a fire from cigarette smoking and since he was in a wheel chair he could not escape. He is buried in Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry, Ohio at the very top of the hill overlooking the Ohio River.
