Served in the 168th OVI Co. “I”

Samuel Crooks was a Private in Co. “I” of the 168th Regiment during the Civil War. On page 397 of The Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio in the War of the Rebellion, 1861 – 1866 – Vol. IX – “Crooks, Samuel, age 33, date of entering service, May 2, 1864 for 100 days. Wounded June 11, 1864 in Battle of Cynthiana, Kentucky; discharged October 18, 1864 at Covington, Kentucky, on Surgeon’s certificate of disability.”

Page 193 – “History of Fayette County, Ohio: her people, industries and institutions” by Frank M. Allen, 1914, Private Samuel Crooks’ name is listed for Co. “I” of the 168th O.V.I.
